Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
Quote:
What does seem to be fading away is 1080p/50(60), at least in the broadcast etc field. It seems to now fall between stools - been pushed aside by 4k as the "future-proof" standard, but too much effort for the "here-today" world. I don't see 1080p/50(60) ever now being the new broadcast transmission standard. Things will either stay as they are, or there will be a leapfrog to 4k. If you're going to update a standard, it's pointless to do it incrementally. |

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
There were the 4K consumer prototypes from Sony and Panasonic at CES '13. Hopefully, there's more info on them at NAB.
Maybe JVC will release the Nikon mount 4K prototype they had at NAB '12? But the quad SD cards doesn't seem to be the best solution. |

What is the status of Aaton Penelope Delta?
GoPro, they are doing 4K after all, but I don't think they will leave their comfort zone and go up against the big boys that are already losing money in their market. |

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
Nothing wrong with the way you posted that PR, Jacques -- but I had to look twice; it's from last year's CineGear Expo.

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
Interesting as I have just now heard about this today from two different sources.
Well, it might as well be mentioned - perhaps it is finally ready and working - maybe ;-0 J "what is vaporware?" Mersereau

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
I almost forgot about another 4K camera that was shown a while back. It's a big chip version of the HMQ10U.

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
What's going on with Panasonic? It seems like the rest of the brands have left them standing. I bought a GH3 recently and would like to see the af100 replaced with a decent codec since i'll eventually build up nice selection of M4/3 glass and would like a "real" video camera to compliment the GH3.
Are there any rumours about what Panny are up to? |

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
Hey, I'm with you, my first choice for my next camera purchase is the AF200 (or whatever it's called). However, I don't think anything is going to happen (we'll see at NAB). If not, I'm purchasing the Canon C100 from one of the sponsors here on DVinfo......

Re: Pre-NAB 4K+ Roundup
Nah! Panasonic must be on the verge of some major new announcements. It's inconceivable that they're throwing in the towel to Sony and Canon. I was surprised how quiet they were at NAB last year and am expecting a big showing this year, and some stiff competition. We'll soon find out. I hope i'm right.
