Just heard news of the first public release of this slow motion open source software.
No binaries for Windows/Mac at this stage but hopefully this will come too.
Seems very exciting - software seems to work really well judging by the examples shown on the site...

Looks really nice, but I'd like to see some other video samples with more going on in the frame & see how well it holds up. The smoke sample looks really good, but since the only thing moving is the smoke there isn't much to confuse the code. If you got a skate boarder doing some tricks outside, then you've got a picture that has a lot going on, which would probably be a lot harder to keep up with the "Optical Flow."

If I knew Linux & had a machine with a NVidia card I'd test it out. But for now I'll just wait for an OSX release (or even Windows). I'd be more willing to donate $5-$10 if there was a stated goal to raise $### to create & release OSX / Windows versions.

I agree that the smoke example on it's own is not enough to judge by, but it certainly gives room for optimism... :)

Windows version is now available, no Mac builds yet.

I only started playing around with it so in no position to make any serious judgment about the quality.
User interface is very spartan.
It would be interesting to hear what others think...

Perhaps the thread should be moved to the "Digital Compositing and Effects" forum?

Had any luck getting this to work?
It runs ok and the UI goes and everything, but it won't actually do any interpolation. You end up with a rendered video ok, but it's just a lot of re-timed/repeated frames The log window is just a string of errors wondering where certain bits are; specifically openCV and V3D things.

I'm running in Windows from the single executable. These parts appear to be from certain developer kits that the site says you don't need unless you are doing your own compile from source.
I'll give it a try after installing them, but still seems like something is amiss.

Hi Murray,
No problems here, but I've only tried simple slow-downs do far, not any complex re-timing.
Perhaps the software is incompatible with your graphics card/drivers?
Did you put the ffmpeg 32 bit static binary in the same folder as the executable?

Thanks Jon. Yeah, ffmpeg is in there.
It seems the errors are a bit misleading (the hardware driver doesn't work with the windows version at all yet apparently, but the errors still come up).
It does do something, but my results were basically a combo of bad footage, bad settings and unrealistic expectations. Seeing all the errors led me up the garden path a bit.
Not to worry.

It'd be good to hear from any users of Twixtor and the like to see how it compares.
