FCPUG Network Announces 8th Annual NAB FCPUG SuperMeet
Thousands will gather at industry’s most popular symposium on April 21, 2009
Los Angeles, CA / Boston, MA – February 23, 2009 - The Final Cut Pro User Group Network today announced the 8th Annual NAB FCPUG SuperMeet will be held at the Rio Hotel (Las Vegas, NV) on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Expected to be one of the largest gatherings of editors, filmmakers, and digital content creators during the NAB 2009 show, the 8th Annual NAB SuperMeet provides an open forum for attendees to discuss the rapidly changing landscape of postproduction and broadcast, talk one-on-one with industry leading digital media technology developers, and network with peers. "The SuperMeet is always and has been always the biggest party in town during NAB week," says Michael Horton, SuperMeet co-producer and founder of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group. "It has become THE social gathering place for editors and digital content creators looking to network, inspire, learn from each other and just have a good time." Final Cut Pro User Groups (FCPUG) started as a grassroots movement to connect Apple Final Cut Pro Editors at a local level. Now in its 8th year, the producers behind the SuperMeet have harnessed the energy of the local chapters and turned FCPUG into the industry’s most influential user organized event with an impressive number of members turning out for each SuperMeet. SuperMeets are held in conjunction with industry trade shows around the world; MacWorld (San Francisco CA, USA), NAB (Las Vegas NV USA) and IBC (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). The user-driven format offers engaging presentations and training by community members and industry technologists. Equally popular are the presentations from community member videographers and filmmakers. "These SuperMeet events provide the postproduction and broadcast community an opportunity to not only learn about the latest technology trends, but to connect with each other to discuss experiences and opportunities within the industry in a social setting that is both educational and fun. This is especially important in today’s tough economic climate where staying connected and networking is more important than ever,” comments Daniel Berube, SuperMeet co-producer and founder of the Boston Final Cut Pro User Group. The 8th Annual NAB SuperMeet will also host the "FCP Trade Show". Over 25 developers and manufacturers will showcase the latest in digital media technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk one on one with leading manufacturers about the latest innovations for postproduction and broadcast markets. SUPERMEET REGISTRATION INFORMATION Tickets will go on sale February 23, 2009 for $10.99 USD per ticket. For more details about the 8th Annual NAB SuperMeet, please visit; FCPUG NAB 2009 SuperMeet. FCPUG SuperMeet gets a SuperBooth at NAB
There IS a reason to go to NAB. All four days.
This year for the very first time we are introducing the FCPUG Network Community "SuperBooth." Booth #SL10129 will be located in the lower-lower South Hall conveniently near the Blackmagic Design booth, the food area and public restrooms. Since Apple won’t be at NAB we hope to fill a bit of the void. The SuperBooth will have something different going on every hour every day. There will be the daily “Guru Hour” where you can get all your FCS problems solved. Sit or stand awhile to view presentations of workflow ideas, show and tells, new products, and much much more. We are just getting started on what to do with this thing. What about the SuperMeet? The SuperMeet will once again be the single largest social gathering of digital filmmakers, content creators and FCS Gurus and users at the NAB Show. There will be user driven presentations from Blackmagic Design, JVC, Adobe and many others. We will present revolutionary new ideas on workflow with Final Cut Studio. There will be show and tells, tips and tricks and yes, the World famous Raffle where we will give away once again, tens of thousands of dollars worth of prizes to dozens of lucky winners. Full agenda will be posted in April. Tickets are only $10.99 each and will remain that way until April 1, 2009. After that it’s $15.00. Some traditions are worth endless repetition.
Not only will I be making my annual contribution to the Las Vegas economy - but I talked Linda into the adventure as well. So Chris, the first round's on us. We'll hoist it in memory of the four legged friend who's loss took you away from the previous Supermeet and include a toast to our Sammy, blind, nearly deaf, way too old for the pet actuaries - but who's still around with grace, a great attitude and the life lesson that the longer you're around, the more important napping becomes. |

Aha. You're a good man, Doug. Consider it done. You'll be an even better man if you can lend me a shoulder to lean on as I stagger out of there. Two years ago my knees hurt for days after all that crawling.
