Musicals for Everyone
This new music creation tool from Microsoft is everything you would expect from them and more.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you... Songsmith I just watched it again. Best line by far is, "Microsoft huh? So it's pretty easy to use?"

Hey wait, did they change the video out? Earlier today it was a really cheesy infomercial type thing, now its a tutorial. The infomercial was priceless, chock full of unintentional humor. I hope someone downloaded a copy of that if they replaced it.

Not to worry, someone has it!
YouTube - Microsoft Songsmith Ad I like all the pretty stickers on the MBP, but only one saves them millions of dollars. |

I didn't even catch that it was a MBP in the infomercial. That adds yet another level of hilarity to this. I'd swear it was fake if it wasn't on their official site. Too bad it's not there anymore, but thanks for the youtube link. Now more people can revel in it's greatness.

Thanks Ethan, now I have to sell all of my Macs and get a PC. This looks awesome ;-) I don't know why Apple bothered with Garage Band and Soundtrack Pro when they could have had the greatness that is known as Songsmith.
All Apple has to do for the Switchers campaign is just have a blank white page with a link to this and they will have a 100% success rate. This exemplifies the mindset between Redmond and Cupertino more effectively than anything I have ever seen. Dan |

Are They Serious?
Are they really serious? Is this really a Microsoft product?
If they were going for kitch - they missed it! If they were going for sincere - they missed it! If they were going for realism - they way missed it! If they were going for cheese - they nailed it! Casio would have been proud of this product - TEN YEARS AGO! That is the cheesiest sounding crap and cheesiest infomercial I've ever seen. I find it hard to think it's real!

It does sound a little cheesy. I have an old casio key-board and that is what it sounds like. Does it have the capability to interface via midi to a decent synth? That would be cool.
