WINTERBLAST Film Festival
I just wanted to let the dvinfo.net community in Michigan know that there is a
new film festival starting up who's mission is to cater to Michigan Filmmakers. The WinterBlast Film Festival™ is now taking submissions. http://www.winterblast.com/event/2007/filmfestival.html The Film Festival is new this year as part of the original WinterBlast Festival taking place in Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit, MI next to Compuware World HQ. Here is an overview: The Festival’s mission is to provide a venue for Michigan filmmakers to showcase their work and to foster a collaborative network that results in the creation of new motion pictures. The three day event spotlights independent filmmakers and welcomes submissions of motion pictures created by Michigan filmmakers or by others provided the subject matter is related to the state of Michigan. Submissions not related to the state of Michigan may also be considered. Some filmmakers may be invited to speak after their work is shown and answer questions from the audience in an informal setting The Emmy winning nature documentary, "An Osprey Homecoming" that my partner Christi Vedejs and I produced is scheduled to be shown in the afternoon of Sunday, February 10th. I encourage other Michigan filmmakers to join the fun and help establish a network.

Thanks Jacques. Good to know; I'll keep this in mind for next year.
