How to replicate the effect from this music video at DVinfo.net

Hello guys,

I have found a pretty old video that has an effect that I would like
to replicate, the video is pretty much low-budget so I think it should be doable in AE.

The effect I´m looking for is the morph like effect that looks like the time has been altered. Obviosly I'm not interested in the tacky fire effect, just to get that out of the air. It's the effect that goes on through the entire first verse for starters. The video is available for streaming on:

Random thoughts - they're using a semifisheye lens that they are tracking and zooming at the same time, which is what sets up the underlying odd perspective effect(s).

Then in the early sections there's quite a bit of slo-mo footage, but presented in very short segments with abrupt jump cuts - so it produces their interesting fast-paced slo-mo effect.

(Initially I was gonna say there was some kind of spherize distortion plugin being applied, but I think it's just the lens they chose).

I also thought that it was a wicked post effect and i fell in love with it
immediately, but now that you point out that it's on set footage, it's less cool.
I was hoping that the director of the video might answer, if he's a member and reading posts that is.
I'm very interesting in exactly how to do it.

its just like you said, morphing the image. This can be done by programs such as winmorph: http://www.debugmode.com/winmorph/

This is a neat effect when done correctly

There are quite a few morphing programs out there. Make sure if you are gonna give em a go check the do video footage, some do stills only, some video and some both. Morphing effects are not hard to do with the software, just a bit of patience to get it looking great and realistic
