After Effects keyframe question

Does after effects ease in and out of keyframes? I am moving a composite from the right side of the screen to the left to pan along with a background. So I am using position keyframes. But it moves irregularly, so I added more keyframes. Now, inbetween each keyframe my composite sways back and forth?! I just want a steady movement from one side to the other. Can I get rid of the easing and irregular movements?

Short answer: yes. (at least in AE 7)

Just use two key frames. One for the start position, one for the end.
Then click the graph editor button, select position and edit the speed graph to taste.

I didn't know about that, that helped alot. Also it turned out to be the background that was unstable not the composite. It is actually "Motion" that eases in and out of keyframes.
Thanks
