Im trying to find the best way to create a rough and jagged looking mask to lay over video. I want the video to appear torn and ripped around the edges. TIA

Hi Brandon, have a try with Effects/Stylize/Roughen Edges. You might find it better to add the effect to an adjustment layer above your vid.

Have you tried creating a matte in Photoshop or directly within After Effects?

Actually photoshop is what I was thinking of using. I just didnt know how well that would work.
