dude, I was checking some of those out and they were so much money. I check about 8 boxes and they were $200. Do you know where i can get some for free. I think 200 is way to much for a 10 second after effects clip. dont you think

Oh, yes, I had that sticker shock also.
$50 for a zillion sound maybe, but not hundreds. In the end, I just tape my own sound. It was better than the canned stuff. |

Make up some of your own stuff? You can do something along the lines of foley, get a turntable, get some normal sounds and throw filters at it in post (particularly the pitch and time shifting ones). Old cassette players are amusing for a few minutes since you can jam an object into the machine and kind of do turntable stuff on it by moving the motor yourself.
If you want to waste time then convert WAVs into RAW files and apply Photoshop filters to the sound. Jay Rose has some articles at dv.com about enhancing and creating sound effects which may apply. His book is great too. You might want to be a bit more specific about the sounds you are looking for. And about Kazaa, it's probably not appropriate for commercial work (as in project you are making money on). |

I have found tons of free sound effects on the web. Just type "sound effects" into google and you are on your way. Sure you have to weed through many sites that charge but I can assure you there are plenty of good ones for free. I also found a program called Find Sounds Palette that costs about $20 and will go out and find sounds based on your search criteria. You can save them and even remix the pitch or edit the length to create all new sounds. They have a shareware trial download that you may want to check out at
