DVCPRO HD with After Effects
I am trying to export a file from After Effects CS3 into DVCPRO HD format. There is no codec that is specifically called DVCPRO HD - the closest I can find is DV/DVCPRO NTSC. My footage was shot on the HVX200 at 720/24p resolution.
I tried the DV/DVCPRO NTSC codec and up the frame size but it looks really bad. The footage needs to play in Final Cut Pro and since I don't have the ability to export as ProRes 4:2:2 DVCPRO HD is my only other option as far as I know. I am using AE CS3 on a pc. |

I recently finished up some work where I had to go back and forth from FCP to After Effects, and boy, is it a royal pain to deal with the sheer file sizes!
Can you adjust the settings of your comp so that it matches DVCProHD without actually being called DVCProHD? It should be 960X720 with a 1.33 pixel aspect ratio (I think...) Export as Quicktime using the animation compressor to retain your quality. Another way is to just use the HDTV 1280X720 setting and render out as Quicktime w/ animation compressor from that. It should look fine when you drop it into your timeline. Either way should look fine, so, whichever is easiest for you. |
