online configuration support (?)
I'm working on upgrading my PC for Vegas and AE7. Anyone heard of a resource for checking compatibility between components, matching memory with MOBO with PSU with Graphics card power requirements?
Also, anyone seen an AE oriented comparison of the GeForce 8500GT vs 8600GT? How significant is G-memory (256 vs 512, DDR2 vs DDR3)? Currently I'm leaning toward an Asus P5K mobo(NewEgg #N82E16813131180R) with an Intel E2160 overclocked to 3.2:GHz per the TomsHardware article, two sticks of 1GB DDR2 memory (PC8500 #N82E16820148069), and likely an Asus EN8600GT 512MB DDR3 vidcard (#N82E16814121098). The PSU is 2 yrs old, so I'll likely need to upgrade it as well, per vidcard and mobo min requirements, but not sure yet. Any thoughts? |

AE comparisons of video cards are pretty unheard of. However, on Toms, if you check the 3DS Max comparison charts, I think you'll get a good idea.
When it comes to building or upgrading a computer remember one thing. Make sure your PSU is up to the job! You want big continuous amps on the 12V rails. |
