Workflow Stereo 3D Toolbox LE
Hi,
we are starting the editing of a documentary project, using FCP7 and Stereo 3D Toolbox LE. At the end I need an output in side by side on HDCAM SR - that is no problem. But I would also need a seperate output for left and for right. Here we don't quite understand the workflow. Is it possible to output left and right by guarding the corrections done by Stereo 3D Toolbox for each eye? In the Light Edition I don't find this feature - only in the Full Edition. But I bought back in 2009 the very first Stereo 3D Toolbox, and there it is possible to output "Solo Left Eye 2D" and "Solo Right Eye 2D". Hm. Should we work with this old version - which by the way was more expensive than the new Light Edition? The only disadvantage with the old version I see at the moment, there is not the Feature "identify left / identify right". Thank you very much for your help. Best regards, Jürgen

Re: Workflow Stereo 3D Toolbox LE
Your license for v1.0 of Stereo3D Toolbox will still work with v4.0. We don't charge for upgrades. You just need to download and install the latest version of FxFactory to get the new features. If you are still running Snow Leopard then you will be restricted to v3.0.4 of FxFactory available here but can then manually download and install v4.0.1 of Stereo3D Toolbox.
The "LE" limited edition does not have discreet left and right output features so you must use the full version for full raster 1920x1080 outputs. You can follow this video at the 5:00 mark for the suggested FCP7 workflow. We recommend that you always use "Global Mode" output so that you simply just trash your renders for the project before setting a new global mode (left, right, SbS, etc.) before exporting each self-contained Quicktime of the final mastered sequence. This is the process we always use for our own projects in FCP7 and FCP X and it works very well. Just don't render the inside of the nests in FCP7.
