HELP!! Odyssey 7Q dead after 2016.1 firmware update???
Hello.
About an hour ago I downloaded the 2016.01 firmware update. I powered up the Odyssey 7Q with a fully loaded battery like I usually do. (AC power here is not very reliable during winter) The update started normally. After a few seconds I noticed the screen is blank. Waited a few minutes, to make sure it is not part of the update... now the device is DEAD - will not power up - not with AC or battery power. What is wrong??? Is there anyway of doing a factory reset on it?? Any help is greatly appreciated - sending it for repair from here (Israel) would be very expensive and time consuming!! Many thanks! |

Re: HELP!! Odyssey 7Q dead after 2016.1 firmware update???
Dear Friends,
I have assisted Arbel, as he called me after posting. We powered his Odyssey7Q with a Sony BPu60 and AC Power. At my request, Arbel, looked into the Odyssey7Q from the top, looking into the SSD slots. The purpose was to see of the Orange LED's inside the unit were on, they were not. Thus, his Odyssey7Q needs to be repaired as the main circuit board is not powering up. He is contacting his dealer now and we will repair his unit. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While this was not the situation in Arbel's case, it is possible for the Odyssey7Q or Odyssey7Q+'s OLED Display to go completely blank during the firmware update process. If this occurs, please continue to power the Odyssey7Q or Odyssey7Q+ for one hour. (Do not remove power from the unit during this hour.) Then power it down, and power it back on. Then the unit should work normally. If it does not, then please connect a valid camera signal to the HD-SDI input. As always, you may call me on my cell phone for assistance 24/7: seven one nine -- nine three zero ---- one three seven six (I am in the United States). Respectfully,

Re: HELP!! Odyssey 7Q dead after 2016.1 firmware update???
Just to update on this case.
I sent my Odyssey 7Q to the US (I live in Israel) to have it fixed. I don't know the nature of the problem but I just received a new Odyssey 7Q+ as a replacement. In times like ours, where "customer service" is often summed up in sending emails to unknown recipients, or waiting in endless queues for phone support - its very unusual to get online, true and outstanding support like I got - both on the phone (Dan Keaton was on the phone with me for over 30 minutes) and by sending me a new device without charging for the upgrade. Big thanks to the guys from CD. You rock. Arbel. |
