Complete ProRes support (422 LT, 422 proxy etc.)

Hi,

Are Convergent Design planning to implement the other ProRes modes, and not only limit the option to 422HQ ?

The Atomos Shogun also support the lower more compressed modes, which saves a lot of space if needed.

It is expensive to store data on the Odyssey 7Q / 7Q+ when you only have the option of 422HQ, and also are limited to only proprietary expensive and hard to get CD SSD“s.

A 15sec 4K ProRes 422HQ file is 1.4GB, the same file in ProRes LT is 630MB and in ProRes Proxy the same file is 220MB.

For many purposes we cannot see the difference between Proxy and HQ.
When the Shogun is capable of this, I would assume also the 7Q/7Qplus should be.

When out in the field, away from computers and storage, having the option of shooting at a lower bitrate could save the project.

Reg,
Ole

Dear Ole,

I can report that we are actively working to implement your requests.

We fully agree that these will increase the versatility of the Odyssey7, the Odyssey7Q and Odyssey7Q+.

And this is a high priority for us.

Previously we were working on 4K and Ultra-HD Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), but now that these are fully implemented, for many cameras, including the FS700, FS7, and C500, as well as almost all HD-SDI and HDMI cameras, we are working in other areas.

Respectfully,

Is CD still working on 4K ProRes at 60 fps? That mode would be a big data saver versus now having to shoot 4K 60 fps in raw.

And don't forget all of us waiting for time lapse on the 7Q. It is common request of clients now and it really enhances production value.

Dear John,

Recording 4K Apple ProRes 422 at 60 fps is a huge technical challenge.

We want to do this, but, we have not promised this.

If we can get it to work, we will.

Respectfully,
