Has anyone used the Odyssey7Q with the FS700 for 4K?

Purchased the FS700 last year with the prospect of eventually getting 4K from it for large screen landscape videos where I need the 4K resolution.

Has anyone used the Odyssey7Q with the FS700 for 4K?

Pros? Cons?

Thanks.

Re: Has anyone used the Odyssey7Q with the FS700 for 4K?

Dear Bob,

We have not started shipping the Odyssey7Q yet.

And we are not ready, at this time, to take the Sony FS700 4K Raw, process it, then encode it in compress codec.

On the other hand, we can record Sony FS700 2K Raw, at up to 240 fps on the Odyssey7Q, and play it back, as well as the resulting files are in CinemaDNG.

We are perfectly capable of recording FS700 4K Raw, at up to 60 fps on the Odyssey7Q. But, this is not a format that we are permitted, by Sony, to include in our Odyssey7Q.

I will be in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Midtown Video's event, showing the FS700 + Odyssey7Q.

Respectfully,

Re: Has anyone used the Odyssey7Q with the FS700 for 4K?

Hi Dan,

great to hear this.

I'm still wondering if the Odyssey 7Q with the FS700 Option is capable of recording 4K 60p compressed?
On the first page of your web page at the Sony FS option, it says 4K 60p compressed, but in some documents within your page, and, on the documents of the resellers here in Europe, there are "only" up to 30p in 4K compressed noted.

I (and probably some others in this forum as well) would be delighted if you could give us a statement about the frame rate capability of the Odyssey 7Q with the Sony FS700 Option in 4K compressed.

Thank you in advance,

Steffen

Re: Has anyone used the Odyssey7Q with the FS700 for 4K?

Dear Steffen,

We are being conservative when we limit our upcoming compressed 4K support for the FS700 to 30 frames per second in our specifications.

We, of course, want to provide this compressed 4K support at 60 frames per second.

We will offer this, if we can make it work.

And we want to provide 4K Raw, at 60 fps, if we get Sony's approval to offer this feature.

We are ready, willing and able to do so, so if we get Sony's permission, it will not take long for us to activate this feature in the Odyssey7Q.

Still no one who has used the 7Q to record 4K with the Sony FS700?

Re: Has anyone used the Odyssey7Q with the FS700 for 4K?

Dear Bob,

No, not yet.

1. We are waiting for permission from Sony to allow us to record in 4K Raw from the FS700.

We have the code ready to go.

2. We do not have our 4K compressed codec ready yet.

As soon as this is finished, then we will be able to record in a compressed codec, in 4K, and this should be very popular.

We do not expect to have this ready until Q1 2014.

Respectfully,
