25p out of af101 - no problems?
I have set my nanoflash to psf and have no problems recording true 25p material out of my AF101. At least it looks like it. But in some threads I have read about issues with recording progressive footage? Is it just 24p or what exactly is the problem?

Re: 25p out of af101 - no problems?
Hello Thomas,
The only issue with the nanoFlash and the AF100 or AF101 with recognizing the 3:2 cadence which there is a work around for 1080p24 but with not with 720p24 all other formats record just fine, When recording 1080p24 set the output to psf out which the nanoFlash will detect as 1080sf24 and will record a correct 1080p23.98, (Similar to a Sony EX3,EX1, F3 etc) Best Regards

Thank you very much for explaining. BTW: the only thing I miss on the Nano is additional audio input-like the pix offers

Re: 25p out of af101 - no problems?
Hello Thomas,
The nanoFlash does have Analog Audio in, via the 3.5mm jack above the SDI Output, To make use of this select the Audio menu on the nanoFlash then Switch the source from Embedded to Analog, with the 3.5mm jack we support mono and Stereo. Best Regards

Re: 25p out of af101 - no problems?
I've had no issues with recording 25p with my two AF-102/Nano units - the footage is fine and is progressive.
Seems like it's only a problem for those in NTSC countries. I have used the audio input a couple of times and it works well - although mini-jack is not a very professional or robust connector.

Re: 25p out of af101 - no problems?
Thanks Rohan for confirming that 25p is no problem!
Concerning the audio in: using the additional input does not create an extra (3rd) audio-track when you import in your nle, does it? It is mixed down with track one or two? Or both? How exactly does it work? |

Re: 25p out of af101 - no problems?
Hi Thomas,
When you select analog audio in, you can choose to record 0,2,4,6 or eight channels (same as SDI) but I think you only get tracks 1&2 with any actual audio signal. There is an input option of mono balanced but I've never used this. I record stereo unbalanced from a Sound Devices MixPre which has a stereo mini jack out as well as XLR. There is no option to record SDI embedded audio and analog at the same time.

Re: 25p out of af101 - no problems?
Hello Everyone,
Just to correct we only support 2 Channel of Audio via Analog Audio, in a future firmware release we will add the functionality of Audio Mixing of Embedded SDI with Analog Audio, But the Analog Audio Circuit can only support 2 Channel of Audio VIa Stereo Unbalanced or Mono Balanced. Currently to record 4, or 8 Channel Audio it must be Embedded in the SDI Stream. Hope that Helps Best Regards
