Gemini 4:4:4 and SSD Myths
Dear Friends,
We have designed in quite a lot of very advanced Solid State Disk technology in our Gemini 4:4:4. There are a few myths about SSD's that I would like to debunk. 1. People who use SSD's in computers may point out that it is common for SSD's to slow down as the SSD fills up. This is a true statement. However, we have the technological expertise to solve this problem. Our SSD's, when used in the Gemini 4:4:4 will not slow down from 0% to 100% full. Of course, this is vitally important to the success of the Gemini 4:4:4. Without this technology, we would not be able to use 100% of the capacity of our SSD's. 2. People may say that SSD's will slow down over time. By this they mean that as a SSD is used, it will become slower, thus not having the overall performance that it did when it was new. This is also a true statement. And the answer is the same. We have the tecnology to prevent this "Slow Down" from occurring. 3. People may say that SSD's are a commodity item and many may perform as well as others. This is false. There are substantial differences among SSD's. Based on our thorough testing of most high performance SSD's, there are very few that are up to the task of recording full uncompressed video in 4:4:4. In general, the manufacturers spec's are not a perfect indication if a SSD will work for full uncompressed video or not. Nothing beats actual testing of the SSD, recording real full uncompressed video, in the actual recorder itself. This is what we do. Also, our Gemini 4:4:4 will have a built-in utility to test your SSD's.
