Hot-Swap and Formatting

1) It seems formatting is done on both CF cards so I can't select which card to format - correct? If not recording, a work-around could be this: remove the card I do not want formatted and then have the nano format the single card in it.

2) my nano records to the same card if I stop recording and swap slots - ie, card A in slot 1 is moved to slot 2 but card B in slot 1 does not record until card A is full. Why is this?

3) while recording a long event, if I remove CF1, which is full, and CF2 is recording, can I put CF1 back in and format it while CF2 is recording? Or must I put in an empty card?

Thanks

Re: Hot-Swap and Formatting

Dear Steve,

1. By design, we always format both cards, if there are two cards in the nanoFlash.

This prevents the problem of having one card with important data in it, and a user accidently selecting the wrong slot to format.

Thus, if the card is in the slot, it will get formatted during the formatting process.

2. We recently redesigned the way we select which cards to use for recording.

Previously, people were recording to Slot 2, then they stopped recording, and placed a card in Slot 1, then recording started with Slot 1, leaving Slot 2 partial full.

We now remember which slot we were recording to, then continue with that slot until that card is full.

I will need to check with our lab, as you seem to be saying that we remember that we were recording on a specific card, and we remember to record to that card, regardless of which slot it is in.
We may do this, I was just not aware of it.

3. With Hot Swapping, you need to put in a CompactFlash card that has been previously formatted in the nanoFlash. Currently, we can not format a new card while recording to another card (except for "Loop Recording")

I hope this helps.
