Ki Pro Mini Power Consumption .. measured.
I was looking into the Ki Pro Mini for an associate of mine and could not find the power consumption (Watts/ Amps) for this unit anywhere on the net. It does not appear to be in the Aja docs either. I advocated for the nano when he bought this unit... I was willing to take a look and see where it may be better or not.
Today I got my hands on one to test. Using a regulated power supply running at 13.5 volts I measured the current draw with a Fluke 87 Multi Meter. This is what I measured: On, but not recording 11 watts. On, recording HD-SDI stream 12.5-13.0 watts. Hope this helps others trying to get this important information. For some applications the mini may be a better fit, and I am not trying to start a slug fest; however the Aja will be going back for a nanoFlash on Monday. The entirety of the nanoFlash feature set exceeds the Aja in some critical areas. I love my nanoFlash... had mine for quite some time. Key advantages of nanoFlash: lower power consumption, multi-platform files, cooler operation, automatic card jump, some measure of environmental sealing, more compact and I feel an easier interface.
