Re: From CF to XDCAM Bluray
If you want fully XDcam compliant PRO Discs, then record in the NanoFlash at 50Mbps MXF (LongGOP). I use a Sony PDW-U1 XDcam drive connected to my computer, and do a direct 'drag-and-drop' of the 50Mbps MXF files from the CF card to the 'Clip' folder on the ProDisc. As part of this process the appropriate low-res proxy files are automatically created on the disc!
(To avoid possible complications, make sure that all your MXF files are recoded in the same standard/frame rate -- don't mix 24p with 30p/60i etc. on the same disc) However, if you just want to archive your files as data (not playable in XDcam deck) then you can copy files to the UserData folder on the disc. Since this is just data, there are no restrictions on original recording formats. I find I can archive just under 20GB of data on a 23GB disc. |

Dear Robin,
In the User Area, you can put any files that you wish.

Re: From CF to XDCAM Bluray
Dear Robin,
Yes, that is correct. The User Area is different than the normal area and the camera and other devices can not play back from the user area. Only 50 Mbps files can be put into the regular area.
