Panny Lumix GH2
Just a general query: my wife wants a new stills camera, so I'm trying to persuade her to get a dslr type camera with HD video (a b camera for my shoots - woohoo).
Has anyone had a chance to test the Lumix GH2 with a nanoflash? I've heard that it has a clean HDMI out, so clearly this would be an interesting one to use with a nano if this is true. There seems to be mixed info on the subject out there (and sorry if this has been covered already elsewhere).

It is not possible to use the hdmi out of the GH2
It is not possible to use the hdmi out of the GH2 for recording. You can use it for monitoring but not for recording. There is a lot of info on this on the web. I cannot reproduce exactly why it is impossible but I was convinced. So it is not possible.

Bummer.
I guess an inexpensive GH2 with clean HDMI out would have cut in to the more expensive AF100 territory...

Hi Simon,
You are right. All HD-DSLRs manufacturers has let open many option to be cracked on the Firmware, however the "Full size/quality HDMI out" has been very well protected. You nailed the reason why. Cheers, rafael PS: if that was possible, our CD friends would be all ready millionaires. |
