XL H1 and nanoFlash Auto Start Record
I have a chance to borrow a nanoFlash to try out. I understand that there is no audio or timecode via the SDI output, but right now that doesn't concern me. I plan to record to both tape and the nanoFlash at the same time. Question is, will the nanoFlash auto sense when I start to to record, even if there is no timecode output, or will I have to manually start the record function on the nanoFalsh.

Dear Don,
We designed the nanoFlash with the original Canon XL H1 in mind. For audio, one just needs a commonly available Stereo RCA to Stereo 3.5mm (1/8") mini-plug cable. For timecode, one needs a timecode input cable or our remote control with timecode input cable. These are available at certain dealers including nanoFlash.net. To answer your question directly: If the nanoFlash can not see your camera's timecode, then it can not start recording automatically. Thus, one of the above cables is necessary, you you can start the nanoFlash via the Record button. I will send you a private email with my phone number.
