Main Concept
I had the very unfortunate experience today of spending
from 7 AM until 1:15 PM attempting to take advantage of the supposed special $200 offer of Main Concept (MC), and after their download button kept asking for information about my "server" and leading me to conduct hours of Internet research to find out what in the world they were requesting, and then entering what I thought was the correct POP3 info, the result totally corrupted my Boxx E-mail function for their page (and that for Convergent Design, in a subsequent E-mail I attempted to write to CD), and I finally quit in utter disgust and paid their regular price of $359. Never have I had an experience like this - unfortunately, I may have to deal with them again when they do some updates. I did not attempt to contact them in view of their awesome customer disservce. What a shame that a fine Company such as Convergent Design requires the Main Concept program in order to function with Premiere. |

Dear William,
I am very sorry that you had a bad experience. But, I would like to set the record straight. Adobe CS3 and CS4 do not support Sony XDCam 4:2:2 50 Mbps Constant Bit Rate codec. Thus, they do not support the Sony PDW-700 or PDW-F800 cameras. Thus, they do not support our high quality options. They do support XDCam EX or 4:2:0 35 Mbps. All of this will change with CS5. But, for the time being, MainConcept has provided a very nice solution, and we have worked out a deal where you get their $359 codec for $199. I know in frustration that you paid full price. If you send me an email, I will contact MainConcept for you in an attempt to get you a refund of the difference. I will need your nanoFlash serial number.

Has anyone mentioned lately that Dan is, in fact, "The Man?"

Dear Bill,
Thank you very much. We contacted MainConcept, they understood the situation, offered William a full refund (which takes a while due to the credit card companies). William was also provided with the direct link to purchase the MainConcept Adobe Plug-In, at the discounted price.
