No Video output from HDMI at 24p
Hi
I have a EX1 and I am feeding my monitor with the HDMI out, when I put the camera on HQ 24p the vid feed shuts off to my monitor. When I put the camera on SP 24p the vid works. My camera has had the firmware update. This started with 1.1.154 and still does it with 1.5.31. Has any one experienced this problem. |

Are you trying to send 24Psf?
Hi Rob,
Check the output settings on your EX1. The newer EX firmware allows you to select 24 (23.98)Psf or 1080i 60 w/3:2 pulldown for output. If you are using HDMI you will probably need to be set for the 1080/60 3:2 pulldown option. As I recall, HDMI may not accept the 24Psf frame rate (In the Video Set menu select 60i for your 24p System setting) I'm guessing that the SP output always introdces the 3:2 pulldown and outputs at 60i (the 24P System item is grayed-out in my menu on SP) Conversely,, change your Nano settings so that you aren't in EtoE mode. Dave,
Thanks for the reply, tried all your suggestions but still no good. Just doesn't want to work on the HQ 24p setting. |

Try This...
Hi Rob,
Presumably the problem is that you are getting 24p from the NanoFlash, and your HDMI monitor won't accept it. I just took a look here, and it seems that the 'E-to-E' setting in the NanoFlash video menu works differently for the HD-SDI output than for the HDMI output. (I'm still on the regular release firmware, not yet testing the new Beta) So Give this a try... In EX1, Video Set menu, set 24P System to: 60i In NanoFlash, Video Menu -- Record PsF to Prog ---- [OFF] Remove 3:2 Pulldown --- [OFF] (Your record format line should now say 1080i59 Select E to E direct --- [ON] (This should give you an output signal of 1080/60i from the NanoFlash, though you are also recording in 60i) Other settings I tried gave me an 'Invalid Format' message on my HDMI monitor. I had thought that the E-to-E direct would give me a 60i signal to the HDMI even when 'remove 3:2 pulldaown' was enabled, the way it does on the HD-SDI output, but apparently it doesn't work that way with the HDMI. Any insights from others? Best, Dave S. |

Hi Dave,
I tried your suggestion and still no go. Besides using the 60i would not let me shoot in 24p. I think I am going to rephrase my question in a new post. |

Hi Rob,
Sorry it's not working there. The settings in my last post were what I needed to do to get a viewable signal from the NanoFlash into my consumer Sony Bravia (HDMI) tv. The Bravia also has an on-screen indicator for 'Invalid Format' - so I knew I was getting a signal with other settings, just not one that the monitor would show. My recommendation would be to use an HD-SDI monitor that will accept a 24PsF signal for your monitoring. As I mentioned in the earlier post, the NanoFlash 'E-to-E' option seems to work differently in HDMI than in HD-SDI. Best, Dave S. |
