Confused about Calibrated Q products
Hi there,
I'm looking to buy a Calibrated Q product to enable the use of XDCAM Transfer on a mac without FCP, however I'm getting confused about the difference between their products. I understand that XD Decode gives me the required codecs to allow XDAM Transfer (working, presumably using quicktime) to decode and display the clips, so I definitely need that. What I don't understand is what the MXF Import product would add to this? As far as I can see the XDCAM Transfer SW works fine with just the XD Decode product, so I'm not clear what extra I would get from getting the MXF Import product as well. Anyone worked this out? Regards Dave |

Got an answer
I'm going to answer my own question, as in the meantime I got a very helpful email from Greg at Calibrated SW.
The two products deal with different parts of the issue - MXF Import make quicktime apps 'understand' MXF wrappers and XD Decode allows decoding of the essence codec. Since XDCAM Transfer already understands the wrapper there's no need for MXF Import. Hope that helps someone else. Regards Dave |
