Format time
How long does it take for the nanoFLASH to reformat cards? Is the time different for different capacity cards?
And the reason one doesn't reformat in a NEXTO is? |

Dear Daniel,
Formatting a CompactFlash card in the nanoFlash takes under 5 seconds for each card, so under 10 seconds for two cards, regardless of capacity. We worked hard to make it this fast. We request that you format in the nanoFlash as we are doing much more than just formatting the cards. We also test the card and do other things such as setting up a directory structure.

My cards take about 2-3 seconds each to format (I'm using 32GB cards).
Formatting them in your Nano also creates the metadata and folders for the clips. The nexto doesn't create these so even if your cards are formatted, you still need to format them in your Nano. |

Dear Friends,
I was being very conservative. I also think the format takes about 2.5 seconds, per card. (But, we are a little slow in putting up the "Format Completed" message. We plan to look into why this message comes up slowly.)

I'd say we're splitting hairs.
"Less than 5 seconds" is fine. I'm writing up the "procedures" for a producer/director NEW to SS recording and time is always a question. Thanks, guys. |
