nanoFlash with DVI Monitors
Dear Friends,
We have learned that some of our customers would like to use the nanoFlash with DVI monitors instead of HDMI or HD-SDI monitors. This requires the use of a HDMI to DVI cable or an adapter. If a DVI monitor is used at this time, the monitor will have a green cast. We are now adding a feature to the nanoFlash to allow the use of DVI monitors. I expect that this new feature will be included in our next firmware release.

Dear James,
Our first firmware update for the nanoFlash will be special. We will be adding a special "Golden Image" to the nanoFlash. This is an emergency, backup, copy of the firmware that will be a permanent part of the nanoFlash. The purpose is to have a "Fail Safe" copy of the firmware, in the nanoFlash, in case power is lost, or if any other problem occurs during a firmware update. While are normal firmware updates are a fairly simple, single step process, this firmware update will be a two step process. We will be releasing instructions for this firmware update when we release the firmware. Now, to answer your question differently, normal firmware updates are performed as follows: Firmware updates are performed by downloading the firmware release from our website, then unzipping the file. Then the }UPD{ folder, our update folder, is copied to a qualified CompactFlash card. When this CompactFlash card is inserted into the nanoFlash, the }UPD{ folder is detected. After confirming that you do want to perform the firmware update, the contents of the existing firmware are erased and the new firmware is installed. Then the CompactFlash card must be removed, and the }UPD{ folder must be manually removed from the CompactFlash card so it can be reused for recording.
