17" MacBook Pro with Solid-State Drive
Dear Friends,
One of our customers wants to purchase a 17" MacBook Pro, either with a Solid-State Drive, or a regular hard-drive. Does anyone have any thoughts, or could share their experiences? Our customer will be editing a movie, on location, on this setup. He may be using a fast RAID setup also.

What kind of specifics are you looking for? I'm not really a professional, but I love my 17" Macbook Pro (2 months old). I don't have a solid state drive, but I imagine it would be welcome addition. The computer handles AVCHD and HDV with no troubles at all, and is easily connected to a variety of firewire devices, or even eSata using an express card 3/4 adapter.
I hope to be using it with a Nano Flash one day soon and would also be curious about others experiences in this area. It is far more portable than I'd originally suspected, and screen real estate is the only occasional problem. |
