EX1/3 HD-SDI being 4:2:0?
I must say I got very concerned with the information in this thread:
http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/sony-xdca...out-420-a.html While of course the Flash XDR/NanoFlash would still work with this output, the quality gains over the SxS encodes would be much less that hoped for (only resulting from the higher bitrate), while the NLE's overhead in file sizes/CPU taxation still being as high as with the proper 10bit, 4:2:2... Could you comment on this authoritatively? Thanks, Piotr

Hi Piotr-
Please check out my post on this question. The EX1/EX3 HD-SDI is unquestionably 10-bit effective. I have asked one of our local image processing experts to comment on the 4:2:2 question.

I tested the raw HD-SDI from the EX-1 quite some time ago and I can confirm that it's true 10-bit. I recorded to a Kona card in 10-bit digitizing mode from the live signal. Used the 10-bit Sheer Video QT codec.
