PPro with Xena LH and timeline
It's late and I'm tired... Not a good combination to try and make things work. I've installed Prospect HD, the Xena LH card, and the accompanying software. No problem capturing HDV footage from the XH A1, BUT I can't get the timeline to show through the Xena card and my monitor. I'm using a Samsung 244T 24" LCD with component inputs. The Samsung monitor display keeps saying "problem with component line".
I know the Xena card is properly installed. The system and software see it. Is there some basic setting I'm missing in the software (Premiere, Prospect, or Machina) to enable timeline monitoring? Geez, I hate trying to figure stuff out late at night - LOL! Stuart |

With Prospect HD you will need to install the included Xena drivers found here "C:\Program Files\CineForm\AJAIO". Then within a Prospect HD project, open the Playback Settings and select Xena as you output (top left.) Then anything that is showing with the Program monitor will be output to the Xena card.

Thanks David. I'll try that shortly and report back.

David,
I've looked in the folder you mentioned. How do I install these? I don't see any executable file there. I already did the Xena install, so the method on your website won't let me use the "find new hardware" wizard. Is there another way to do this without uninstalling the Xena software? Thanks. |

Just do a driver update on the AJA card through Device Manager and point to this folder. I have been working with AJA to get an installer for these components, it has been a lower priority than everything going on.

Tried that just now... Windows says it could not find a better driver than the one already installed - even though I pointed it to the right directory.

This is why we have support rather than just me. :) Try an uninstall then an install using the AJA directory.

I submitted a ticket just to be sure. I guess the main question is should I uninstall ALL Xena software? If only the driver needs to be uninstalled, which file in the AJAIO folder is the correct driver for playback from the timeline.
Thanks again. Stuart |

If you not going to use the Xena software, uninstall it all. Unfortunately AJA have an odd policy of separate drivers for company's like CineForm and for their own tools (I know they have their reasons, but it is still annoying.) However the driver uninstall alone should work as long as you aren't using Machina.

Okay, I uninstalled the Xena drivers, re-installed from the AJAIO directory, and still see nothing through the monitor. I went into playback settings and see no reference to Xena, just the normal settings as outlined in the Prospect HD manual on page 35-36. The manual implies these are the settings for the Xena cards. Should there be a preset just for Xena LH monitoring?
BTW, I've captured HDV footage, upped the rez to 1920 x 1080i, and have the project set as a Cineform Prospect HD 1080i project. Stuart |

The setup you want is "Enable HD-SDI scrubbing and playback" as pictured here.

One of those days... Problem solved by replacing a cable. I'm now monitoring in beautiful 1080!
Thanks again for all your help and patience. The driver is now properly installed as well. Stuart |
