Aspect HD, Premiere Pro and HV20
I am a long time Premiere Pro user, recently purchased the HV20 and have been using the Aspect HD trial and loving it.
After struggling whether to buy NeoHDV or Aspect HD, I finally just pulled the trigger, swallowed hard, spent the 5 bills and just bought Aspect HD v5 from the Cineform site. Not having to render the footage is such a great feature as well the effects which don't require rendering. I have a couple of questions if anyone knows, I would appreciate the help. 1) When I open a project in Premiere Pro, which preset should I choose for the HV20 for 24P? I chose the 24F one because that seemed to have the 1440 x 1080 -- Is that the right one for HV20 24P? 2) Then when capturing in Premiere Pro, Should I check "Remove Sony CF24 pulldown"? If I don't check that, it captures the file at 29.97 instead of the 23.976 Best Regards, Mike |

Salah, Thanks for the link -- I missed that one when looking.
Still, my screen for capture looks different in version 5 at least. It reads: Remove Sony CF24 (not required for other cameras) -- the link you posted shows Canon HV20 and reads: Remove 3-2 pulldown (24p in 60i, : Sony V1U, Canon HV20) ------ Also, regarding the preset -- ISthe correct one for 24P from HV20 AspectHD 1440X1080 24p (24F OR p2) or AspectHD 1440x1080 24p (CF24 or P2) Mike |

Oh -- needed Build 83
Ok the wording changed in the latest software release -- even though I downloaded v5 today -- that takes care of the capture wording.
Still need clarity on the preset to use when starting a 24P project from Canon HV20. Last edited by Michael DAmbrose; May 20th, 2007 at 02:44 PM. |

You want a preset that support 1440x1080 progressive at 23.976, and have the capture default to removing pulldown for the Canon HV20.

David, thanks for being here on the forum. I hope the fires aren't anywhere near your home or friends and that you are staying safe. I just had the same question only I'm new at this and didn't fully understand your answer. Using the cineform HDlink I captured footage off my HV20. Now I would like to know which project setting to use in 2.0. I'm assuming it's the 24f one but I thought the HV20 wasn't 24f. In which case, should I use the Sony 24p setting instead? Or were you sort of hinting that it doesn't matter. Thanks,
Matt |

Presets are the same for editing, only difference is for Premiere capture, one defaults with pulldown on.
