50i -> 50p ?
Is there any way to get Cineform/HDLink to convert 50i to 50p, with interpolated fields, ala Vegas...? (I fully realize that this would half vertical res).
Ideally I'd want to get Cineform to convert 1080-50i to 720-50p at Capture time! This would be a huge, huge boon for projects where I am editing on a 25p timeline for 576p or 720p output. (ps., I am a new owner/user of NEO HDV, absolutely love it, aside from the scene splitting issue for which I currently have a support ticket in) |

While technically possible we don't currently have a 50i to 50p conversion option.

Cheers for the prompt response David,
Obviously I'd like to put in my vote for this feature... I'll have my fingers crossed that it's not too involved and can be added to a NEO update at some point ;) many thanks, Kris |

If you could de-interlace odds and evens separately into image sequences, I've got an applescript laying around that'll reorder the frames alternating between the odds and evens. It's up on this forum too somewhere in the depths of time with video examples as well...people have used it and liked it.
If you're on a PC, sorry, it's mac only...I'll provide the code for someone to recode a VBscript for folks to use. Last edited by Cole McDonald; May 14th, 2007 at 06:56 PM. Reason: added the last bits. |

Here's that thread, use the second posting of the script in there...it's fixed for longer sequences.

You can also do this with VirtualDub. I do it frequently to get slow motion shots from 50i or 60i footage in 24p projects.

Cheers for the info guys .. I didn't know that virtualdub would do it actually, will it do 1080i50 M2T -> 720p50 Cineform in one step ..? I really don't want to be doing HDVSplit M2Ts -> Virtualdub slowdown into huffyuv uncompressed avi -> HDlink batch convert into cineform if I can help it.
