NEO HDV + Canon XH-A1, won't split?
Hi, simple post ..
Capturing from XH-A1, variety of 25F and 50i footage. Neo HDV (downloaded today) HDLink isn't splitting scenes! I've tried it straight to cineform, to cineform+m2t, and to m2t alone ... no splitting :( Is anyone else doing this successfully? |

Already filed a ticket, so I appended a note for it to be assigned to that person...
Have you had similar problems ..? I have a promo that needs edited/graded to be finished a little over a week from now, our editor is holding off starting until we know whether we can go the cineform route .. (as opposed to hdv, which sucks for 150+ cuts in 3mins)... Hopefully I'll get some resolution asap :) Otherwise, cineform looks like a dream to work with. Kris |

Kris, while you're waiting for Tim's response, I have a couple things to suggest:
1) Try a utility called "HDVSplit" to split your HDV files. You can then use HDLink to convert the split files to CineForm Intermediate. More on HDVSplit in this thread: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthrea...light=hdvsplit. 2) You can download the previous version of Connect HD on the CineForm downloads page by clicking on the "Update" button: http://www.cineform.com/products/Dow.../Downloads.htm. Put in a random number for the serial number and it'll return a link to you. We didn't do any update to the splitting algorithm when we moved up to NEO, but some people seem to report different behavior for some reason. |

Cheers David!
HDVSplit splits them no problem, will do that and convert to cineform for the time being! Tried uninstalling my version of NEO and installing older Connect HD versions-- seemed to behave in the same way, no splits! |

Hi, just a follow-up .... I've been capturing another project with HDVSplit (to M2T) and then converting the M2Ts into Cineform Avis with HDLink ... HDLink is regularly freezing up (the window stops responding), and I have to kill the process. I know that HDVSplit reported 2 dropped frames in the 4 hours of video--- In what circumstances would HDLink it freeze up?
So at the moment I'm in a position where I can't have faith in my folder of cineform footage as I've had to keep "resuming" the batch compression, and I know for a fact that one ~20minute take has been truncated to ~3mins long ... If only HDLink would capture and scene split direct from the A1 =\ Is *anyone* doing this successfully? If so, what version of HDLink/cineform? |
