Sony AVCHD cams support ?
1/ The new HHD based Sony HDR-SR1 and others are announced for September.
Will Cineform support those any time soon ?? ( Knowing your competence and reactivity, i am sure it is a yes, but would be of some comfort to see it's planned) 2/as soon as a camcorder records on disk, one might envision to get a Firewire 800 or USB 2.0 properly tuned to connect directly to the editing PC . .Any mention of such connections anywhere ?? 3/This would save a lot of time- and a lot of disk space on the editing machine - by performing directly the CineFormAVI conversion, direct from the cam drive, without having to "capture" the oriinal AVC ( or MPEG) stream. |

Yes we intend to support the new cameras. At first glance we anticipate our product development should be pretty straightforward, but until we actually see one ourselves we don't know details for sure.
And yes you should be able to use the recording harddrive for editing if that is desired. That workflow may not be efficient for long-form post, but there shouldn't be anything that prevents you from doing this. |
