Problems with WMP & Real Media Playing m2t

David,

I am experiencing problems playing the m2t files since I upgraded to PP2 and Aspect 4.0. Neither Windows Media Player nor Real Media Player can play them any more. Before, I used to play them smothly in my laptop and desktop. Any pointers?

Thanks,

Luis Otero

PS
I can still play the CF AVI as always, but not the m2t...

M2T playback is not an Aspect HD function, so this function has not been removed, something else in your system has changed. You need an MPEG2 demux and decoder for Window Media playback, generally these are commercial add-ons from Moonlight, Elecard, MainConcept, etc., however VLC is a excellent free solution for M2T playback. Some DVD player tools also come with the needed components (i.e. MPEG2 decoders.)

David,

I understand that CF is in the business to create the awesome avi files we can edit; however, diring the 4.0 istallation something I was able to do (playing m2t files with WMP) is no longer available to me anymore. I was just trying to see if you have heard, or help someone elso regarding this situation, and provide me with the pointer necessary to get that function back.

Regards,

Luis

Did you uninstall anything else (like 1.5.1)? AHD doesn't register its MPEG componments so that is completely avoid conflicts with the any number of MPEG2 decoders you may have installed. Can your PC still play a DVD?

David,

I am running both, PP1.5.1 and 2.0 in my station. And I am still capable of playing DVDs. I just followed the de-installation/re-installation protocol is depicted in your knowledgebase in order to have AspectHD working together with both PP versions. It is then when I started to notice the problem with WMP not being able to read m2t files.

Thanks,

Luis

PS

What is the url to get the free VLC you are mentioning?

Another great freeware app is MPEG Streamclip. It's available for many OS's including Windows. I have been using it on the Mac and it works great.
