Mono Audio Channels ? at DVinfo.net

This is probably a question for the P/Pro Forum, but I have had trouble finding the answer to my question, using P/Pro telephone support, Adobe Web support or the 5 or so Manuals that I have for P/Pro 1.5... So here goes
Is there a straight forward way to create an edit work flow when capturing video with ONE or TWO MONO tracks of audio, rather than Stereo,,, using the suggested paths of Converting Individule Stereo clips to Mono, Creating a Mono Sub Mix, and/or copying tracks from one track to another, seems to be very cumbersome... I am sure that someone must have a method to do this. Any Takers?
