Com Surrogate not working..... at DVinfo.net

I keep getting this error with any Cineform file in any software, Vegas, After Effects, First Light etc
Anyone know a fix?

Most likely it's a codec problem.

In simple terms, Windows Explorer, when faced with thumbnails/video/audio that it doesn't trust, opens a dummy process (a surrogate) so that the files can run in it.

So if the codec is at fault, when the process crashes, the surrogate crashes - and not Explorer. If Explorer didn't have this function, it would crash instead - and that's a whole lot messier.

Uninstall cineform, clean the registry and re-install. If you're still having issues, you'll have to get cineform's tech support - maybe there's a patch.

Thanks for that Sareesh, your post led me in the right direction.
Well this was interesting.
Tried reinstalling Cineform, cleaned registry and junk files, restarted, installed Cineform, restarted
First thing I get on restart is the same error window.
Didn't have time to muck around so just kept working....
Then I noticed the error kept popping up every time the Desktop became visible.
There was a file rendered to Cineform from Vegas that failed, It was rendered to the Desktop. I rendered it again and all was good, so I kept working and moved on.
It seems that every time Windows tried to show the thumbnail from the bad file the Com Surrogate error occurred.
Deleted that file and havent seen the error since.
Always the simple things
