Cineform - Nikon D800 Compatability
I'm picking up my new Nikon D800 this afternoon. So just a quick question for Mr Newman.
Does Cineform transcode the D800 codec as well as it did the Canon 5Dmk2 footage ? I want to use Firstlight and the Cineform workflow if possible. I'm going to shoot a short on the D800 ASAP and convert to Cineform, if it's been fully optimised for this codec/camera. My last short film was 95% shot on a Canon 5Dmk2, with a bit of slomo from the 7D. The whole central portion of the film was shot 'way way way' too dark and it was only by heavy handed use of Firstlight that I was able to pull out a usable image from the murk. Without Firstlight and some very hefty noise reduction the whole film would have been lost. So a big thanks to the Cineform team. Anybody with a spare half hour and the patience to follow a convoluted and overly wordy script can see the end results of my labours at:- How not to make a five minute movie | The website featuring our 24 minute sci-fi film – the average man It's not stunning quality, and the script was rather rushed, but I did finish it. Which after that first viewing of the initial footage now seems like a complete miracle. Anyway, if someone can let me know the current state of Cineform and Nikon D800 compatability that would be great. Thanks Simon |

Re: Cineform - Nikon D800 Compatability
Congratulations on the B800 Simon!
I've got the same question about the 5D MkIII. Don't have one yet but my credit card is itching. |
