Public betas for the new products.
Neo and Neo3D are going away, to be replaced with GoPro CineForm Studio Premium (Neo level) and GoPro CineForm Studio Professional (Neo3D level.) These applications incorporate much of the functionality of the older products in an easier to use new user interface that combines the conversion features of HDLink with the image manipulation of FirstLight. As not all existing features are supported today within the new interface, FirstLight and HDlink will continue to exist for some time, although they will not be greatly enhanced beyond bug fixes. Mac users will find the same for Remaster, with its key features moving into CineForm Studio (Mac and PC applications will be much more inline.) All future enhancements with go into the new application, and today MVC 3D camera support has been added, with much more to come.
The first release of these new products is only a few weeks away, but you can try GoPro CineForm Studio Premium on Windows today. Professional and Mac versions will be available next week. Steps: 1) Uninstall your old CineForm application (do not deactivate) 2) Download Premium for this temporary link (valid for 10-days) http://software.gopro.com.s3.amazona...apAZDoMFR00%3D This is a full version with 15-day trail. It will not use your old Neo license. At anytime you can uninstall and reinstall Neo. Note 1: Update fees from existing products are expect to be minimal (or zero), details to follow. Note 2: NeoScene is not going away, as it has extra camera support over the free GoPro CineForm Studio does, although we recommend NeoScene users also get the free version of Studio to enhance their workflow (the two do work together.)

Re: Public betas for the new products.
From another thread: "Question: Is there a way in the new Studio Premium to turn on the scopes and histogram that was in FirstLight?"
To turn on the scopes waveforms etc. in Studio Premium/Professional is actually far easier than FirstLight. The top left panel it scrollable and expandable (more goodies can be revealed.)

Re: Public betas for the new products.
Thank you for the reply. I was growing a bit concerned by the silence here but this new program, especially if the "Vegas fix" works is a really really great little package, very nice job. Please give us a "real" version before my 10 days expires. How does one save setting and apply them to another clip in GPCSP like the snapshot function in FL

Re: Public betas for the new products.
Roy,
The snapshot function was real a poor duplicate of a much more useful implementation, simply Ctrl+C (copy) and then select all the clips you want to add the new parameters Ctrl+V (paste) or the Ctrl+Shit+V (Custom Paste) where you can select which parameters get pasted. Gerald, You can still use HDlink, that hasn't changed. Also pester BMD to add CineForm to more of their tools (it is in Resolve), it will cost them nothing (other than a hour engineering hours) as they are already licensed to do so. We have stopped chasing BMD, AJA, BlueFish, DVS etc, to contastly support their hardware and driver changes, instead were making it very easy to add CineForm support to everyones tools.

Re: Public betas for the new products.
Here are some comments after a quick look at Studio Premium.
I really like the format and the features; just like I've been waiting for. (And even sound while editing.) I have two major problems: 1. It won't handle Canon MXF files. Hopefully this is coming soon. I worked with 5DMkII MOV files and it converted these okay. 2. In the edit mode it won't play AVI files from the RAID disk on my editing computer; and it won't play AVI files from the USB 3.0 disk on my laptop computer. They will come up but just jerk through the video every few seconds, even in the draft mode. I had this problem with the StudioPC beta and was never able to resolve it with CineForm/GoPro support. The work around is to move the files to the C: disk where they play in real time, but that isn't going to work with real projects. These disks play fine with FirstLight (and all my other video applications) so it has something to do with the way Studio reads from these alternate disk drives. (Both the RAID and the USB 3.0 disks have a slight delay before they start reading - this may upset Studio.) Finally a question - is there a way to display the video on a second monitor with Studio (as with FirstLight)? |

Re: Public betas for the new products.
Thanks for responding David.
Will write an email to Black mag today. Couple of observations about the new First Light /Studio. What would the Export MP4 be used for? I cant find any options- re size, bit rate, portion of clip. etc On the image controls, we have now lost the slider value, unless hovering over it. Would most people prefer this? I dont, but I know its not all about me :) It would be really good if you could right click a slider and have a reset option for THAT slider only, rather than the whole Image control window.

Re: Public betas for the new products.
Export MP4 will move in future releases, but it for quick H.264 exports for the web.
The number fields will be returning, and there on the Mac version. Double click on the slider label to reset an individual field. Also, for more slider accuracy (while the number fields are missing) the whole right panel can be increased in size -- grab the divider between the video view and the metadata controls.

Re: Public betas for the new products.
OK-I'm sure you've spent time writing a new user manual, and again this new combo will revoloutionize my way of working but... The ctrl+c, ctrl+v thing is great..is there a way to save these presets for future use down the road?

Re: Public betas for the new products.
We will consider adding snapshot (or a similar) feature back.

Re: Public betas for the new products.
Beta for GoPro GoPro Studio Professional is now available. This is the Neo3D release to the above Neo version. The key difference is the 3D support for beam-spliter configurations and the resulting image corrections.
