Active Metadata with GoPro Cineform Studio?
I've been using Cineform Neoscene for a while now, and out of curiousity I also just tried out the GoPro Cineform Studio.
I was pleasantly surprised by all the functions it had, particularly the image adjustments available. When making adjustments like contrast, saturation, exposure, etc, are these changes made using the active metadata the same way as in Cineform Neo? Are the changes all real-time and require no rendering whatsoever in any NLE? Obviously Neo (or the newer GoPro Studio Premium) gives you a lot more options, but is it essentially the same method of making real-time adjustments? And what happens if I want to switch video files from one computer to another? Is there anything like the Neo databases that let you share the adjustments between users or worksations? Or is the metadata stored in the clip itself? |

Re: Active Metadata with GoPro Cineform Studio?
NeoScene + GoPro CineForm Studio is almost equilivant to an full Neo (or soon GoPro CineForm Studio Premium) license. While you don't get all the image conversion, compression option and image corrections, you do get the key image enhancements -- yes it works the same way and it is real-time everywhere (no rendering.) GoPro CineForm Studio (base version) doesn't offer the database exporting like the full licenses, yet you can save project and import those onto different systems running Studio (this will transfer the color correction metadata.) So either save and load project (lame, so 1990s) or sync up your color databases via dropbox
Visit the vimeo link, the info. attached helps you set up dropbox for this.

Re: Active Metadata with GoPro Cineform Studio?
Thanks David,
This should be an excellent combo for me - I'm really looking forward to making good use of the real-time adjustments. I'm heading to Hawaii to shoot some surfing in about a month and I'll be putting together highlights videos where speed is of the essence - this will be a big help indeed! |
