GH1 - Banding upon conversion to Cform

I just converted some 1080 AVCHD GH1 footage using HDlink.
Converted to QT Cform in HIGH and in FILM SCAN mode.

Both conversions seem to give banding on the background gradients, which I don't appear as bad in the original source material when played in BSplayer.

Is there some kind of settings that I should be aware of, or is this inherent to the conversion to Cineform QT files?

Firstly, there is no banding added to a CineForm file, the opposite is true. Now we have to determine what you are seeing. Why are you converting to MOV files? Remember QuickTime Player is by far the worse playback engine anywhere (Mac and PC), get the color wrong, gamma wrong, and banding would be the iceing on that crapcake. :) So how are you seeing banding?

I converted to MOV to intercut with si2k MOV files in FCP for the editor.

i looked at the MOV files in QT, after effects, and in BSplayer.
I could only open the source MTS file in BSplayer.
(I could not open the MTS files in cs3 to compare.)

Do you have another freeware application you can recommend opening the files in that I can get screen caps to show you?

Quicktime is the common thread, it is not good. But that might be the issue, so send file to support (source and grabs.)
