HD Link rate change - audio vanishes

I have been using HD Link to convert canon 5D files from 30 to 25fps cineform AVIs with no problems at all.

I tried to use this feature with a Cineform AVI file (rendered in AE) to convert the rate from 25 to 24fps.
The video converts and plays perfectly but the audio disappears exactly 2/3 of the way thru the resulting file!
This happens whatever the file length may be. It makes no difference whether maintain pitch is select or not.

There have been a couple of similar posts on this forum detailing the same problem, but neither have received a resonse. Hopefully this with add some weight to try to solve it.

It's a great feature and is inifinitely better (for us) to accept a 4% lengthening of the timeline than to chop a frame out every second, which is what AE seems to want to do!

I have confirmed, but I don't know why yet. The work around is either interpret footage to the new frame rate, and remodule the audio, or use a free tool like AVIFRate.exe to set the new playback speed in the file header.

Thanks David.

We did a workround by using HD Link to adjust the video track and then slowing the audio in Audition by 4% and recombining them. I will try the other programme that you suggest also.

Strange that it stops exactly at 2/3 of the way down the timeline. Interested to know why if it's understandable for normal mortals!

Any news about a solution to this yet?

No idea. It is unlikely to be fixed shortly, as the bug is not obvious.
