What Settings for output for EX3 clipbrowser
I just got a brand new EX3 to go with my 7D (EX3 really is a nice b-cam, giggle) but I'm not sure the best way to get the files off the camera and then trans-code them in NEO4K. If anyone can tell me the best work flow for this it would be greatly appreciated. If you are wondering why I would trans-code them, grading in Firstlight is MAGIC!!! If I use the clip browser what are the export settings? Or do I even need to do that? Opening each folder on the EX3 and dropping and dragging them over is a pretty big pain. Thanks for the help as always.

Luckily, you don't need to open each folder. Set HDlink to convert a folder and point it at the root folder created by the camera (the one with the date/time numbers. It will find all the mp4 files and convert them with no problems (at least, it does for me).
Otherwise, you could batch export them as MXF from the clip browser and put them all in one folder which HDLink can also convert. I don't think the MXF export does anything to the file in the clip browser, just the wrapper/headers. Or, in PPro CS5, the media browser will also find the video files and can import them all at once, so you could, if you want, edit in XDCAM from the mp4 and then export the cut prog to Cineform. Though if there's going to be any colour correction or FX you'll want to be in Cineform first... |
