CineForm to TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress help needed
Hello
I need help with the “best preset” for converting from CineForm SD 25p (PAL) 720x576 (progressive) to TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress mpeg-2; I have a hard time to get a good looking DVD? I also need the same help for going from CineForm Prospect HD 25p (PAL) 1280x720p to TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress mpeg-2; I have a hard time to get a good looking DVD? So could someone share their preset (not NTSC), for the TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress mpeg-2 in PAL. PS I have ProCoder 3 and like to see if I could get better result with “TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress”, I have heard the whistles and joy of it (TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress) but so far my attempt is leaving me with poor result? Best Regards Mikael |

Hello,
You should be getting good quality depending on the settings in the TMPEG software. Did you set the compression to VBC OR CBR? You will get better quality at CBR at a high quality setting of like 8. Leo |

Sorry the mpeg2, CBR at setting for 8 is what I use for SD work. WHich TMPEG settings have you been using for the SD and HD convert which are giving you poor results?
When you say poor results what are you seeing blocking on smooth gradients and blocking on fades up and downs from Black? Leo |

Thanks Ann and Leo
Leo I use CBR, just find the result to soft and un sharp for my approval. Perfect Ann with your pic, just got two more question. 1. Can I select "progressive" instead of interlace in the submenu "Displaymode", will I gain any quality (I know dvd is interlaced) 2. How do you deal with the color space 709 (HD) to 601 (SD) then? if you come from HD like 720p or 1080p? Best Regards Mikael |
