target folder for hdlink
would it speed hdlink up if we could designate a target drive on a different RAID drive for our newly converted files?

Only if you where I/O bound. Typically the speed is limited by the source decode speed, H.264 or MPEG2, as the CineForm encoder is faster than both. However a slow target disk will limit the throughput for some sources.
