Difference between Microsoft AVI and Cineform AVI
What is the difference between the Microsoft AVI file, with the Cineform codec selected, and the Cineform AVI file in the Adobe CS4 Media Encoder? Neoscene installed.

That changes whether you are using the "Video for Windows" (VFW) exporter or Cineform's exporter. I am not sure, but I believe the VFW exporter is limited to 8bit color, while Cineform's is not. I would assume that Cineform's exporter offers more functionality in regards to passing metadata through the process and such, but I am not sure on that. I believe the Cineform exporter "should" be faster as well.

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to determine the workflow to downconvert HD to SD using the Lanzcos 3 scalar 'included' in Cineform importer in place of the scaling with Adobe Media Encoder MP2 encoding. See CineForm Insider: Mastering 24p DVDs from HD using Premiere Pro.
