New Quadcore iMAC for Cineform?
Quite simply had enough of unstable PC world and looking to jump ship to the new iMAC.
My questions are: 1) The max spec is Quadcore 2.8Ghz Intel i7 with 2TB HDD. Ram I can expand. Is this enough to work well with cineform HD. 2) HDD options are then limited to IEE800 port - is this good enough for cineform use? I read 65MB/s max. Which external HDDs are best choice? 3) Anything else I need to be worried about? Thanks all |

Deniz, a 2.8 GHz Quadcore i7 will be great for CineForm. The new memory model in the i7 processor provides a significant boost to CineForm performance.
These numbers are a bit long-tin-the-tooth now being as David Newman ran them in late 2008, but they still apply to your machine. Take a look at his blog: CineForm Insider: Intel Core i7 and CineForm. We haven't characterized performance of external drives so perhaps another member can comment further. |
