Avid Media Composer 4 and Cineform:

Hello,

Has there been any progress made regarding using Media Composer and Cineform in a more efficient way?

Thanks,

Simon

We are working with Avid to get this solved. We do need updates from Avid to make CineForm a native format -- something both companies are working towards.

Excellent.

That would be a great solution.

Any timeline estimate for this? End of the year? Next year?

I am strongly considering Avid Media Composer but without Cineform support it just does not make much sense. I love my cineform. ;)

Thanks for the update David.

Fingers-crossed for mid-2010. This is mostly in Avid's hands at the moment.

I had a feeling it may take some time.

By then PPCS5 should be out. That will be a tough decision.

PPCS5 or Avid??

hmmmmm!

David, did Avid get a new development department? You may not be at liberty to discuss it but as of last year, they no longer had a development department at all. Looked like they were positioning themseves to sell or merge.

Your heard wrong -- they are little smaller yes, but still have fully staff development/engineering.
