previous dv footage shows up as cineform file in AE?
Has anyone experienced this, my captured DV footage, when I try to import it into AE 6.5 (in a DV project) the import window says it is a Cineform AVI file and won't import it, many of my old ones changed also (the file extension says AVI and imports into PPro fine, but AE 6.5 won't have it, thinks it's Cineform. Uninstalled Aspect HD (newest version) then it comes into AE no problem? Reinstalled and same problem. Anyone try it?

This is a problem with adding custom importers to After Effects. AE only supports one importer per file class (like AVI) , whereas Premiere happily chains importers so that multiple vendors can extend AVI features. Basically you will need to remove the CFHDIO.aex file from the AE plug-ins folder for doing DV work. You can still use CFHD files within AE, you will just lose the bonus CineForm features in AE. When you are doing an HD only project you can restore the CFHDIO.aex module. We have a new version of CFHDIO that adds support for VfW codec, unfortunately DV has no VfW support. Hope Adobe fixes this importer issue in a future release of AE.
