PC cineform files on a Mac
Hi, I'm moving over to Apple Mac Pro from Win XP - I assume that all my Neo HDV files on my PC hard drive will be readable on the Mac? I just need to install Neo player on the Mac right? And FCP will read the NEO HDV files from the timeline?
And since in FCP i will capture from my Sony V1 to Apples codec, then I dont need cineform for capture, right? Unless there is some advantage of doing that? Thanks for any help |

Sherif, yes, your CineForm AVI files should be readable on Mac using Neo Player.
CineForm has numerous features beyond ProRes, but if ProRes solves your problems then its closer integration into FCP may be beneficial for you. |

Yes, MacOS should properly read CineForm AVI files allowing them to be played when Neo Player is installed.

Neo Scene has been available on both Win and Mac since we introduced the product in January.
Our CS4 support is a bit different on Win and Mac however. On Win we have importers and exporters for CS4 that ship with Neo Scene. On Mac CS4 you can play CineForm files, but we haven't yet ported our importer and exporter to Mac. This means CineForm files will play through the QT interface which is slower than our importer/exporter. We will port the importer/exporter to Mac for CS4 but we don't have a schedule yet. |
